Recently I've seen the faux leather look pop up all over the web, from my favorite online haunts like ASOS & Pretty Little Thing to H&M & DP, and of course not forgetting splashed all across my Insta feed. So being a total lover and devotee of trying ALL new and inspiring styles I decided to give it a go. After all why not, you don't know until you try it...
So I decided to keep it simples this time by just trying out two different faux leather trousers / leggings.....oh and maybe a dress too!!!
My first pair were from Pieces at ASOS. They were a high rise, belted, 'paperbag' waisted style with a very relaxed fit and tapered leg. They were 100% viscose so weren't stretchy at all and yet were a nice to touch material. The waist was a great detail and helped create a more feminine feel to the otherwise quite casual, relaxed appearance.

Trousers:

I teamed these up with a rather floaty, polka dot print blouse and snake print ankle boots. I kinda thought that these two different prints would accentuate each other especially split between the bold faux leather. I actually really liked this look, the three pieces / styles went really well together and created a lovely feminine silhouette. The emphasized high waisted style really helped this look stand out and going by my first trial I think I'm already a turned woman. Rock chic here I come.......
Blouse:
Ankle Boots:
My only issue with these trousers, and this is purely on a how they felt basis, as apposed to how they looked on, but they were ever so slightly too short for me, I feel like I would of perhaps preferred a 'tall' version of these, but they worked well with the ankle boots I teamed them up with so maybe I just need to embrace it.

My second pair were from I SAW IT FIRST and were a rather different style to my first choice. They were super skinny, stretched and with a slight sheen to the fabric. They were again a high waisted 'pleated' style with a double button fastening, but no belt this time. I had to go up a size (from my usual medium to a large!) as they came up super small, but to be honest that didn't bother me as the amount of give they had in them completely reasoned the extra sizing. I actually really liked these, and although more of an evening vibe I'm pretty sure they could be dressed down with trainers or wedges and a chunky knit.

Trousers:

I however chose to embrace the evening look and teamed these up with two slightly different bodies. My first choice was a floral, high neck bodysuit with a mesh insert at the top and small frilled cap sleeves. This kind of top really isn't usually my thing but 'when in Rome' as they say I figured I might as well try, well everything that's a little different & out of my comfort zone. So to be honest I mainly chose this top as I though the model on their website looked incredible in it and it teamed up really well with the whole faux leather look. Which after all is the whole point in this particular blog. I almost felt a little 'Greece Lightning' aka Sandy in these, although I totally couldn't strut around like she could. #boss
My decision to go 'all out there' paid off ( I think!) the top went really well with the leather trousers and teamed up with some sparkly pink heels it really finished off the whole evening look off. Although ideally I think this outfit would look better with a pair of shocking red hot / burgundy heels, something similar to either of these maybe:

The second top was my very trusty high neck leopard print bodysuit. Now I love this top, it's one of my fave EVER buys so it only seemed logical to try these out together and I wasn't disappointed with the results. Again I thought they worked really well together, the super skinny trousers and high accentuated waist really helped give my figure that feminine and curvy look.

Although this top dressed the whole look down a little I still think that these faux leather trousers are more geared towards an evening outfit. Maybe if I teamed them up with some over the knee / knee high flats they could be conversed into a day vibe. Either way I think they are a great addition to my EVER EXPANDING wardrobe!!!

Last but by no means least I decided to go all out and one step further and beyond my mission by trying on a faux leather dress. I mean why the hell not hey, if you're going to embrace something you might as well go hard.....or go home as they say.
This dress was again from I SAW IT FIRST, and a nice twist on the trusty LBD. A black faux leather shift dress in a mini length. The dress features a high neckline, organza sheer long sleeves and a back zip fastening. Again I had to go up from my usual size but the overall fit of the dress was fabulous. It fitted in all the right places and felt comfy on and I loved the see through arms, they were a gorgeous addition to spice this dress up a little.

I tried the dress on firstly with a pair of red KG heels and leopard print socks. I just couldn't resist sneaking in a little leopard print to this attire and (I know I'm biased, as I LOVE leopard print!!) but I think it works pretty well together, what do you think? It just adds a little colour and print to the outfit. Although tbh this dress would pretty much go with any colour or style of footwear, it's that versatile. I mean black goes with EVERYTHING, right.....

So my second choice of footwear were a pair of Missguided snake skin boots and again some leopard print socks. This was maybe a more dressed down vibe and I liked this look but maybe not quite as much as my first choice. Although I think maybe replacing the leopard print socks with some thin black tights or even some black fish nets would be a better alternative.

Saying that the boots looked great with the dress and it just shows how versatile a LBD is and can be. My hubby said I looked like Maze in Lucifer, now I'll TOTALLY take that, as she definitely rocks the leather look to utter perfection, after all she is a sexy demon!! Although TBH maybe some knee high stiletto boots would be better to match with her sexy style..... I honestly don't think i could compete.
Perhaps a pair of one of these would work:

Overall I think I've honestly found a new love of leather, or rather faux leather and I'm not sure why it's taken me this long to realize it, but better late than never as they say.......
